Doug (a Whitmer kid) and I, after 34 years of marriage, are grandparents of four wonderful children. We both work as teachers now, and keep a simple shack in the woods of Michigan for breaks from suburbia. Memories of choir music are the most indelible, thanks to both Mrs. Vance and Mr. Davis, and Mr. Kocher's weird science humor was always appreciated. I hope to make the reunion, but if I seem to forget who you are, just give me a few cues and the light will come on! |

As of AUG-2025: I've lived in Ohio all my life (Twinsburg the last 30). College at Miami University and Ohio State. Taught school for a year, been working in software since. Still have a small company with two of my sons, and recently pivoted to pursue a career in acting for my next 30. Too busy (and not enough sense/cents) to retire... My mantra: "No one who loves the woods stays on the path."

Share an embarrassing moment or a prank that was played on someone else or on you...:
Band practice, in the little theatre. I snuck up behind the tuba section and started throwing fake snow above Dennis Miller and the tubas. Dennis belches his tuba so loud that Mr Watson has to stop to yell. He sees the snow, waits several seconds in silence, figures it out, yells at me, and I get in big trouble. |

Not surprisingly, I pursued music for a good long time, studying classical and jazz flute and piano, teaching privately and occasionally performing. But at 35, I gave it all up for writing. Some radio gigs followed, as well as scholarly essay-writing for reference books--all the while slaving away on short and long fiction projects. Now I'm wrestling with a memoir about coping with MS--and I think the book is winning. Oy. Since I'm an old hand at the MS thing now, I spend a good deal of my day supporting others who have MS, doing research, and sharing my knowledge of therapies and symptom management with the newbies. The reunion will be such a hoot. I can't wait to see my old buds again: Schmitt, Mannik, Zuelke, Schafstall, Amidon, Bode, Becker, Friesner, Bergmann, Micham, and, uh---I'm having a junior moment--I know there were more!? See y'all there! You know who you are! |

Share an embarrassing moment or a prank that was played on someone else or on you...: My sixteenth birthday party was the most memorable, hands down! It was raining that night; Tammy Amidon and Linda Bode were helping me transport the cake and supplies from our townhouse to the community center for the party. Bode slipped on the wet concrete and dropped the cake on the sidewalk--after which Amidon promptly broke into a rousing rendition of "MacArthur Park"..."someone left the cake out in the rain..." My sister, Dana, cussing at Bode for ruining the cake she'd baked for me while Amidon is singing "I don't think that I can take it/cuz it took so long to bake it/and I'll never have that recipe aga-a-a-i-n..." I know, I know, you had to be there--but it's still hilarious after all these years! |
