I really can't believe it has been 35 years. Honestly it does not seem that long ago and I still have such vivid and very fond memories of those years and special friends.

Since then, I have been incredibly lucky. I am working at a job that I feel very good about and which allows me time to do plenty of volunteer community work. I think that I have stayed true to my leftist politics and values -- somethings never change Mr. Mauk. But most importantly, as the result of a long term relationship, I have 2 great (step) kids who I am very close to and very proud of. They are not just family they are 2 truly fine people that I admire and enjoy immensely. Bridget is a social worker for the Madison Schools and Jeremiah is a teacher in the District. They wont be able to support me, in the way that I hope to become accustomed, in my later years, but they are very good at what they do and are making a difference in the world.

Share a favorite memory -- something that made you laugh or cry or feel pride in your school...share: After a home basketball game, going outside to wait for the after game dance to start. It was snowing and a group of us were playing and sliding down \
Who was your favorite teacher?: A tie: Ms. Meuller and Ms. Graber
Share an embarrassing moment or a prank that was played on someone else or on you...: Ms. Graber who taught the honor\'s biology class first period, had a very nasty habit of sending people to the office for being just a few minutes late!! Ann Boeker and I decided something should be done. So, I deliberately came to school without shaving, messed up my hair and put on a pair of Boeker\'s dad\'s baggy old pajamas. I then shuffled in about 10 minutes late carrying a coffee mug and mumbled something about how hard it was to get to class so early. Ms. Graber looked me in the eye for a good long time and then burst into laughter. She did not refer anyone to the office for being late the rest of the year.

Comment: I've been working for Boeing here in Washington since 1988. I mostly work on commercial airplanes like the 737, 757 and 767 but have even done some work on 707's and 727's as well. Prior to Boeing I was in the Strategic Air Command as a missle combat crew commander in North Dakota. Spent an entire year of my life buried underground waiting for world war three to start. Never happened ;-(

I did get an MBA while I was there so it wasn't a total loss.

I finally resigned my commision in 1988 when the Air Force wouldn't let me leave North Dakota. The winters were brutal there.

Been married for 28 years come the 16th of July and have three great kids (that all still live at home). Erin, 37, just got engaged on the 1st of July and has her Master degree in teaching. Alison, 36, loves animals and works for a Veterinary clinic. She has a bad habit of bringing home disabled animals that we have trouble saying no to (it's a zoo around here). Eric, 31, is a CAD machinist and is going back to school for a mechanical engineering degree.

My kids finally got me to set up a facebook account saying I needed to "get with the times" so I did that and found loads of people who actually knew me. Total shocker! Posted a video of one of my more ambitious home projects (read that as stupid) on facebook so folks could see what pure terror looked like. If you happen to see it, you can see that I'm actually firing up a home made turbine powered helicopter in my backyard. Not the smartest thing I've done. I put up a Youtube channel so my mom could see some of my projects. Never thought so many people would subscribe to it! Youtube channel under the name "Gyro Captain" with the picture of Bruce Spence from Mad Max II. I only put a few videos of some weird projects I've worked on.

What would your friends be the most surprised to know about you now?: If I had friends that would be a surprise!
